Self-publishing is not the generic of lesser quality books that it once was. Because of authors like Robert Kiyosaki (Rich Dad Poor Dad), E.L. James (50 Shades of Grey) and Margaret Atwood (The Handmaid’s Tale) we know that indie authors can write highly successful books that make lots of money and get a lot of attention.
Obviously, this is easier said than done. Millions of books are published every year, and with self-publishing becoming more popular than ever, it is that much more difficult for authors to get seen. This is why it is that much more important for indie authors especially to do all that they can to launch their releases correctly.
So, how does one launch a new book correctly? There’s no one way to accomplish this in my opinion. When it comes to promotion, in this day and age anything can happen. Bottom line, the ‘write’ way to launch a book is that it must include promotion. You should have a budget set aside for ads and other promotional items when your book is coming out.
Perhaps you will send out advanced copies of your new book to bookstagrammers so that they can review your book for their followers. Whatever method you choose to employ, you should have a game plan that you will put into play at least three months before you plan to release your book.
I can not stress enough the importance of social media and how it plays a role in your book launch. Don’t wait until your book is coming out to start engaging with readers. The months proceeding your book launch, you should be posting regularly and including posts about your books release. and don’t just say buy my book. Be interestign, talk about subjects that relate to your books themes. engae with readers and support other authors. This will go a long way in helping you to get those first week book sales that can help your book to be successful and receive lots of reviews.
Hopefully, you have alreaey spent time compiling an email list. It doesnt have to be very big either. Even 100 readers who will preorder your book is a great start. Obviously, the more time you spend connecting with your audience and establishing your email list the more suscribers you will have so ake sure you give your email list high priority.
It goes without saying that the work we do leading up to our book launches are just as important if not more so than the book. Remeber, readers are not just buying a book from you, they are buying your brand. This is especially true if you are an unknown. If you have successfully created a platform that is highly engaged by your followers, they will be eager to support you when your book comes out.
In summation, a successful book launch will include a budget for promotion, social media engagement, an email list, and establishing a connection with your audience. To learn more about how you can launch your next book click here.
